Biography

 

Matt Shotwell was born February15th, 1981, one of five kids in Restorations Unllimited a small family business.  He was sent to a Air Force Military boarding school at 15, where he learned to fly. He then did the college sampler platter; George Mason University in Fairfax Virginia, United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point New York, Northern Virginia Community College and Valley Forge Military College, before finally receiving his Bachelors Of Science in Marine Transportation at CSU Maritime, aka California Maritime Academy - one of the oldest and first of schools of its kind in the United States and the only Maritime Academy on the entire west coast.

 

 His first job following graduation was as a merchant marine officer was for the Department of Defense, as a GS-9 under the military sealift command branch of the Navy. He then opted to go to search and rescue swimmer training at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, live ordnance handling, fire fighting school school, chemical biological radiological defense officer training in New Jersey, and lastly graduate maritime studies at the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies (MITAGS). After his government gigs, Matt switched to commercial maritime operations and started sailing on large container ships for Masters, Mates & Pilots out of the port of San Francisco and Oakland. Alaska, Japan, Korea, China, Hawaii, Los Angeles were his usual voyages. At this point Matt decided to follow his passion an devote his energies to his acting, producing and dancing career. His passion for performing began in childhood training along with his brothers and sisters in all forms dance, from ballet to jazz, but his real love is tap. Matt even came in second to Elijah Wood when he was younger for a spot in a national "Roy Rogers" commercial; had things gone just slightly differently it could have been Matt in "Lord of the Rings"

 

Following Matt's decision to commit himself fully to the entertainment industry his career has skyrocketed; in just three short years Matt has acted in regional commercials for renowned companies such as Wheel Works and Anchor Steam. He has also landed lead roles in hit TV series like "I Almost Got Away with It" where he played the murdering meth dealer Kevin Cross, to the raves of both other cast members and crew, including the shows director. Along with his television work Matt has starred in many short films.he played the role of a grieved father on the verge of suicide in the global feature, now in post production "Love Floats" being produced by the United Filmmakers Association. And as if that were not enough to make every other young actor green with envy, Matt also co-created. produced and starred in Discoveries hit series "Weed Country", where he became the poster boy of the Hollywood Reporters Top 25 heat list. Matt along with his producing partners have several other series and films in various stages of development.
